Please Note: State of Connecticut, Public Act No. 99-140, Substitute House bill No. 5070 (enacted Fall 1999): "An Act Concerning Alarms for New Swimming Pools. "No building permit shall be issued for the construction or substantial alteration of a swimming pool at a residence occupied by, or being built for, one or more families unless a pool alarm is install with the swimming pool." This applies to Inground AND Aboveground pools.

Similar statutes exist in other states.  Be sure to check with your local Building Inspector.
