Soft Soak® Start-Up & Maintenance

Soft Soak® Start-Up (first time or upon drain/refill)

  1. Fill Spa with water.

  2. Once filled with water, start equipment following the spa manufacturer's written instructions.

  3. Test water for pH, Total Alkalinity & Calcium Hardness.

  4. Balance spa water with SpaGuard® Total Alkalinity Increaser and Calcium Hardness Increaser.  Follow label instructions or the directions provided.

  5. Add the following amount of Soft Soak® products per 150 gallons of spa water:
    Add 5 oz. Soft Soak
    ® Spa Conditioner (used at start-up only); allow to circulate for about 30 minutes WITHOUT the air blower

  6. Add the following amounts of Soft Soak products per 150 gallons of spa water:
    Add 1.0 oz. Soft Soak
    ® Stain & Scale Control
    Add 3.0 oz. Soft Soak
    ® Shock

  7. All water to circulate continuously for about 30 minutes with the air blowers (if equipped) OFF.

  8. Add 1.0 oz. of Soft Soak® Sanitizer per 150 gallons of spa water & circulate continuously again for about 30 minutes.

  9. Retest spa water using Soft Soak® Water Test Strips.  Sanitizer level should be between 30 and 50 ppm and the pH should be between 7.2 and 7.6.

 

Soft Soak® Maintenance Care

Weekly:

  1. Test spa water using Soft Soak® Spa Water Test Strips for pH, Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and Sanitizer levels.  Write down the results.

  2. Add the following amounts of Soft Soak® products per 150 gallons of spa water:
    Add 0.25 oz. Soft Soak
    ® Stain & Scale Control
    Add 1.0 to 3.0 oz. Soft Soak
    ® Shock, according to spa usage.  Use the higher amount if the spa is used 3 or more times per week.

  3. The Soft Soak® Sanitizer level should be maintained between 30 and 50 ppm.  If the Sanitizer level is 11 to 30 ppm, add 0.5 oz. Soft Soak® Sanitizer per 150 gallons of spa water.  If the Sanitizer level is 0 to 10 ppm, add 1.0 oz. Soft Soak Sanitizer per 150 gallons of spa water.

  4. If pH is NOT between 7.2 and 7.6, adjust as needed with SpaGuard® pH Increaser or Decreaser.

Monthly:

  • If possible, have your water professionally tested by Par Pool & Spa

  • Chemically clean your filter with Soft Soak® Filter Cleaner.
